not so merry christmas

three deaths in the family (okay, extended family) plus overtime work at home do not really make it a merry christmas.

oh well... may they all rest in peace.

Wednesday, December 24

ho! ho! ho!

merry christmas!

i won't really be celebrating though. i'm not sure if i can even really feel the nine-day vacation because of we have a lot of rating to do.

oh, and i have to review for the compre. syet.

i have to seriously start looking for a new job by january next year. it's a must.

Sunday, December 21

i'm going out of my wits because of rating.
i rated more than 50 files in two days.
anne, you smelly korean better pay up. on time.

Thursday, December 18

yey! yey! yey! (part 2)

i got a 3.5 for my lit class.
my 15-page paper passed!
sleeping at 5.30 am paid off!
yey! yey! yey!

Tuesday, December 16

kaching! kaching!

more than 2,200 files to listen to and evaluate.
that means, no christmas again.
no vacation.
*sigh*

i guess the only compensation from not being able to celebrate christmas in a normal and humane way is that we'll get double pay for every file we rate. oooohhhh!!!! i just hope they pay us on time.

Friday, December 12

yay! yay! yay!

i took a leave from work yesterday thinking that it would only take me a day to write a 15-page synthesis paper. yeah, right. i was totally spaced out almost the whole day yesterday. it was already 8pm when i started writing sentences that made sense. after 30 minutes, i had dinner. then at 9pm, i continued writing. i was hoping to finish by midnight because i didn't want to be absent from work (no, i am not a workaholic nor do i love working in my office. i just needed to finish rating pending files). but nooooo. it was almost midnight, and i was still trying to fill up page 2 of my paper. that was when i realized that if i go to sleep to get up at 6am to prepare for work, i wouldn't be able to finish my paper at all. and so, i decided to take a leave from work again.

so, to make the long story short...

i continued working on my paper until 5.30am. at that time, i was on page 11 (or was it 12?) already. but my head was spinning and i couldn't construct a non-elementary sentence anymore. plus, i couldn't bear the fact that i would sleep with the sun up already. so, i hit the sack.

after three and a half hours, i woke up. had breakfast. and started working on my paper again. until 5pm. today. i had to rush printing the paper so i could make it to la salle by six.

actually, my friend, naomi, and i were originally planning to submit our papers by 1.30. this morning, we decided to move it to 3pm. since it was already 2pm, and we were still working, we moved it again at 5.30.

when i got to la salle at 10 past 6, i called naomi and she said she was still working the bibliography part.

my ged. this is a very tiring day. imagine, if i didn't take a leave yesterday, i wouldn't be able to submit that freaking paper.

oh well. i'm done with all of my subjects now. yay! i'm done! let me say that again...I'M DONE!

i only have my compre to worry about. maybe after my birthday :)

wala lang..

i remembered kathy when i read this...

I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we love more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us.

i'm playing this in while i'm rating koreans and taking notes for my final paper...

it's a casual game so i don't have to worry
about running out of time. the graphics are way better than the other games. it's more interactive too. i also like the soundtrack.

i love the powers of the internet..bwahahahaha
